SBO Meeting Minutes, Sept. 12, 2016

SHOP BELLEVUE OHIO met at Gilbert's Place on Monday, September 12, 2016, at 6:30 p.m.
ATTENDING:  Keith Jesse, Jeannie Gore, Janell Davenport, Rob Moore, Paul Davenport, Judy Miller.
Judy called the meeting to order in LeRose's absence.

MEETINGS.  Proposal made to have one breakfast meeting a month, and one evening meeting a month, to try to accommodate varied schedules.  Keith said Monday is the only good day for him, and he suggested going back to 1st and 3rd Mondays, to allow occasional appearance at City Council.  Mornings don't work for Janell.  After discussion, it was agreed that the next meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 26th at 8 a.m. at Long Way Home Restaurant.  Jeannie will confirm with the Longs.  Further discussion on dates to follow.

BUNTING BANNERS provided by SBO need to be returned.  Please return to Candy Depot.

ZOMBIE WALK.  Nick Mazzaro submitted a written report, detailing conflicts w/participants on the date, and other issues.  The City is re-vamping its form for use of Central Park, so it was not yet available.  Keith will check.  Donations to benefit 'Winterize Our Kids' Project and Pass It On Clothing Closet will have a representative at the Park.  Both clothing and cash are accepted.
Businesses are encouraged to print flyer from Facebook and post; please share on social media.
Business Participation.  Jeannie and Janell will contact businesses to finalize business participation.
Discussion on re-scheduling Picnic in the Park to be part of this event, from 4 to 6 p.m.  Keith is checking with Chief Sears, to see if firemen are interested/able to participate on that day.
*Follow-up:  Chief Sears will ask men to help at the Tuesday training, so we will know on Wednesday.
Keith will also check on availability of corn.  If the corn crop is done, Rob Moore offered to make a large pot of baked beans to go with the hot dogs.
SBO to provide food, condiments, paper products, water.  3 SBO Volunteers needed to assist with food.

SCARECROW CONTEST.  Jeannie has these participants so far:  Bellevue Hospital, Hunter's Needs, Art@106, Golden Acorn, Gilbert's Place.  Better followup needed for participation.
Also participating:  Croghan Bank, Copper Top Bake Shop, Nowhere Tavern.

FALL DECORATING.  Perry's is charging $2.50 for a bundle of 10 and will have them bundled.  Need to know where they will go.  Who is getting them?  Bows and ribbons donated by Perry's Plantation.  Decorating begins Saturday, Sept. 24th at 8 a.m.  Meet at Parking lot by Fire Station.  Goal is have bundles dropped off by the poles.  Rob Moore and Paul Davenport offered to deliver the stalks around town.  Need list of who bought straw bales last year.  Ask businesses to buy bundles/ribbons for poles by their business?  Who can volunteer on Saturday morning?

2017 PUBLICATION DEADLINES are looming for event dates for next year.  Need this to be finalized at next meeting.  1st Thursdays; Chili Cookoff; etc.

MARKETING.  SEASONAL GUIDE,  Deadline for ads for Christmas edition is OCTOBER 21st.  Remember, December First Thursday is 12/1, and the Christmas Parade, sponsored by First National Bank, is that night.

FIRST THURSDAY on October 6th - Anti-Bullying Month program, TBD, at Gilbert's by Bellevue Police Auxiliary.  Need Specials, Offers, Features from participating businesses to Judy Miller, asap, please.  November 3rd..?  December 1st - Christmas Parade; Holiday Kickoff.

BELLEVUE POLICE AUXILIARY.  Sgt. Keith Jesse will appear at the next City Council meeting to request staging Safety Town 2.0, for autistic children in 2017.  Requests support.  Keith also received a $25,000. Grant, in conjunction with ProMedica and area Mental Health Boards, for a Suicide Prevention Program.  Congratulations, Keith!!

MAD RIVER & NKP RR CONVENTION, Saturday 10/15 in the afternoon.  Discussion on program for spouses attending the event.  It was decided that participating businesses will have an in-house event; list to be compiled and distributed with a map to help visitors find the stores.  Think of a creative promotion for YOUR business, set a time (or 2 times) and let us know.   For example:  Hunter's Needs will have a session on different ways to tie a scarf; Candy Depot will demonstrate how to use a chocolate fountain; do a tour or demonstration...  with food, special drinks... ???
