Meeting Minutes

July 2, 2018

Location:  Shoppe 191

Present:  Lesley Hackenberg, Jeannie Gore, Janell Davenport, Christine Earl, LaRose Meadows and Judy Miller.

  • Minutes from June 4 meeting read; Judy motions to accept minutes as written, LaRose seconds.
  • Financials - $215 in ads not yet paid for Seasonal Guide 1.

Shoppin’ Sally has been at The Hub, Art@106, Humble Hustle, Committee to Grow.  Other businesses who have requested her are Harman Fitness, Jaime Garza – Legacy Acres, and the REC.
Sally will be at Shoppe 191 with Lesley until July 5th , then she will head to Hunter’s Needs.

Seasonal Guide 2 – six ads are in and printing July 14th.  Next edition will be the fall edition, ads are due by August 7th and will print August 25th.  Scarecrow contest information will be needed for this edition.  Christmas edition ads will need to be in by October 16th and will print November 3rd.

Shop Small Saturday – November 24th. 
Last year all businesses donated gift cards for the gift card tree.  Winner was drawn at the Tree Lighting.  Entry tickets will be sold for the gift card tree – proceeds will benefit the Inclusive Playground.  Price for the tickets will be $1 each or 6 for $5.
Suggestion was made to split up the gift cards into more than one tree to make it more appealing.  It was decided there would be three trees,
Janell will look into Registration # for the tickets.  LaRose will contact Keith Jesse regarding the gift cared tree.
Drawing will be held at the Tree Lighting the first Thursday in December – December 6th.
Also for Shop Small Saturday, LaRose mentioned a Youth Business Expo – details TBD.  Kick off would be at Shop Small Saturday.

Old Business –
Scarecrow contest - Jeannie feels we should share proceeds from the Scarecrow Contest the Inclusive Playground, 50% to the Inclusive Playground, and 50% to SBC.
LaRose moves – Jeannie Seconds.
The Inclusive Playground is planned for the former Ellis School location.
Scarecrow contest participants?  Lindsey will talk to Drawn to the Surface about participating.
Scarecrows will be up October 1st through 31st.  It is mentioned that the Auxiliary Police should participate.

Float for the Halloween Parade?  Also article in Attica Hub for the Scarecrow contest?

New Business
Old and New Treasures is moving to Rte 4 and 113 (formerly Dotson’s Corner).
Committee to Grow meeting – City is putting up organizational sign again at triangle coming into Bellevue and were asked if we wanted a sign put up.  Janelle motions to make sign – Judy seconds.
Ads for upcoming Christmas season – Sandusky Register.
Rail Fest – August 18th - list of Businesses?

Next SBO meeting will August 6th at 7:00 pm.
