First Annual Gingerbread House Contest

WHEN:         

  • Thursday, December 4th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday, December 5th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 6th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m
  • Winners will be announced at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday

              

WHERE:  The Railroad Depot Dining Hall, 111 N. Buckeye St.  (next to Pizza Wheel)

 

CATEGORIES:

  • Professional (Caterers, Bakers, etc.)
  • Amateur (Creative Home Bakers)
  • Separate Children’s Category (through Middle School age)

 

PRIZES:  1st ($50)   -   2nd ($25)   -   3rd ($10) place winners in each category

  • One award in children’s category.
  • All non-winning entries will be entered into a drawing for a special prize.

 

JUDGING:

  • Visitors vote for their favorite by donating $1.00 per vote. 
  • Prizes awarded to houses with the most votes.

 

SATURDAY – DEC 6TH EVENTS

  • 10 a.m. - Guest Appearance and Demonstration by noted confectioner Wendy Kromer of Wendy Kromer Confections, Sandusky. Since 1995 Wendy continues her work with Martha Stewart Omnimdeia as Contributing Editor, producing hundreds of wedding cakes for Martha Stewart Weddings. One has also seen her decorated cookies, cakes, and other dessert stories in Martha Stewart Living; Martha Stewart for Macy’s; numerous catalogs & TV. In 2009, along with her custom cake business, Wendy began teaching classes in the art of cake decorating, at the Wendy Kromer Confections Academy in Sandusky, OH; as well as various hotels, resorts & cake design schools worldwide. You don't want to miss this opportunity!
  • Mary Magyar’s delicious cookies and pastries will be made available for purchase.
  • Christmas Houses and Decorations will be on display for a festive atmosphere.

A Few Rules For The Houses:

  • The entire house and all accessories must be made of edible materials (no plastic).
  • Houses and accessories must not exceed 14” deep by 24” wide
  • Entry forms must be received by Monday, December 1st with $5.00 Entry Fee enclosed
  • All Gingerbread House displays should be brought in to set up on Wednesday, December 3 between 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. (Call 419-217-4046 to make other arrangements).
  • Winners will be announced at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
  • All displays to be picked up between 2:00 and 3:00 pm. Saturday, December 6th.
  • EXCEPT: The top winning entry in each category will be displayed at The First National Bank Lobby the following week.

 

Remember, all proceeds from the Contest go to the Bellevue Historical Society for the Tremont House Project.  So, fill in the application below, send it in or drop off and have fun baking!
